Is the AllAuthor Pro Membership Worth It? My Honest Review
What You Get With the AllAuthor Pro Membership
If you are an indie author looking for new ways to promote your books, AllAuthor offers a Pro membership that includes several marketing tools and promotional features. After using the service myself, I found there are quite a few useful benefits included in the $69 six-month upgrade, although some advertised features do not work exactly the way you might expect.
Here is a breakdown of what you actually get, what feels misleading, and whether the membership is worth the money.
For $69, the Pro membership lasts six months and includes a variety of promotional tools and profile upgrades designed for authors. If you want the year plan, that costs $30 more.
Multiple Book Listings
One of the biggest advantages is the ability to add every book you have published to your author profile. This makes your page feel much more complete and professional.
Additional Author Page Themes
The upgrade unlocks several better-looking themes for your author page, allowing you to customize your profile more than free users can.
Front Page Author Placement
Your name is added as a new author on the front page of the AllAuthor website, which can help increase visibility for newer authors.
Access to Promotional Tools
The membership also gives you access to several built-in marketing tools, including:
- Magic Tool
- Tweet Scheduler
- Author Interview
- GIF Maker
- Book Banner Creator
- Seasonal Mockup Creator
Some of these tools are surprisingly useful for social media promotion.
Features That Do Not Work as Expected
While the Pro membership includes some solid tools, there are a few frustrating limitations and misleading expectations.
Featured Books Are Not Automatically Added to the Front Page
One thing many users will probably assume is that their featured book appears in the site’s “Featured Books” section on the homepage. Unfortunately, that is not included with the Pro membership.
Instead, I only found an option where you pay an additional $10 for 14 days of homepage placement. If you want both a featured book and homepage coverage, the total cost becomes $39.
Problems With the Tweet Scheduler
The Tweet Scheduler claims it will automatically include your book cover and purchase links in scheduled tweets. That is only partially true.
The cover image is included, but clicking it simply opens the image itself instead of sending readers to your book’s purchase page. That greatly reduces the usefulness of the feature.
I also contacted support about this issue and Twitter/X SPAM policy was blamed. So I disabled that feature, since I can easily post my covers along with links. It’s also been 5 days and only 1 tweet of my featured book has been posted on their accounts. Not sure how often it’s supposed to go out, but I was under the impression it would be posted on all 4 of them.
Confusing Author Profile Navigation
The upgraded themes look much better than the standard design, but there is another issue.
When someone clicks on your profile, they are first taken to the same basic profile layout everyone uses. They then need to click again to reach your customized author page.
That extra step feels unnecessary and confusing. It would make far more sense if visitors were taken directly to the upgraded author page from the start.
The Author Interview Feature Feels Incomplete
The Author Interview feature appears to happen on AllAuthor’s schedule rather than yours.
At the time of writing this review, there does not seem to be a way to immediately fill out or publish an interview yourself. Because of that, it is difficult to fully review this feature since it may or may not become available when you want it.
The Best AllAuthor Tools for Social Media Promotion
Despite some flaws, several of the included promotional tools are genuinely useful.
Magic Tool
The Magic Tool allows you to place up to five of your book covers into downloadable promotional images.
You can create mockups featuring:
- Coffee cups
- Phones
- Tablets
- Printed books
- Cover reveal graphics
This is a nice option for authors wanting quick social media graphics without using Photoshop.
Review GIF Maker
The Review GIF Maker creates animated GIFs using your featured book cover and a review quote.
These are especially useful for sharing reader reviews across platforms like Facebook, X, and Instagram. The only drawback is you can only do this with your featured book(s).
Book GIF Banner Creator
This tool combines multiple book covers into rotating animated banners with customizable text prompts such as:
- “Which of my characters is your favorite?”
- “Which cover do you like best?”
- “Enter to Win”
This ended up being one of the more useful features included in the membership. This is especially useful since it can include all of your books, not just the ones you have featured.
Seasonal Mockup Banners
The seasonal mockup feature lets you create holiday-themed promotional graphics for your books. For example, you can add fireworks for the Fourth of July or create Christmas-themed book images for holiday marketing campaigns.
Final Verdict: Is AllAuthor Pro Worth It?
Considering how much authors often spend on advertising and promotion, the AllAuthor Pro membership is not a bad deal overall.
The six-month duration gives you plenty of time to use the tools, and many of the social media graphics features are genuinely helpful for indie authors trying to promote their books online.
That said, some of the most important promotional features either cost extra or do not function as advertised. The missing homepage placement for featured books and the broken tweet links are especially disappointing.
If your main goal is long-term access to marketing tools and graphics creation, the Pro membership can still be worth the price.
However, if you only want front-page exposure for a specific book, the separate featured book promotion option for $39 may actually provide better value.
