Why is there rape in so many of your books?

I've seen this topic as a common theme in many of the negative reviews of my work.  So many topics in today's society offend so many people, that it's become impossible to find something that won't offend someone.  Rape is only in a handful of my books, and when it's included, it's important for the storyline. I was raised on historical fiction, and rape in romance books was very popular. It was never a bad thing to incorporate in the story, though I do admit that a few of my books have graphic rape or flashbacks of rape. My muse gets out of hand sometimes, and I seldom can control the direction things go. That might sound odd to someone who isn't a writer, but those of you who are will completely understand. In all honesty I write my stories for me and then decide to share them with the world.  If they bother you, I'm sorry you're upset, but I'm not sorry for what I wrote.  My books are my children, and I'm proud of each and every one of them.
