Clarissa falls in love with her boss, Patrick, who fears commitment and distrusts women.  They date and are intimate, and then she gets pregnant. Afraid he'll think she is trapping him, she doesn't tell him right away but tells her best friend, Dave, instead. He's comforting her when Patrick sees them. Everything falls apart, and Clarissa breaks up with him and ends up marrying Dave in name only. Four years later Dave dies, and she and her son return home for his funeral. She runs into Patrick and the sparks are still there, but can these two stubborn people forgive and forget the past and move on together?
