Is magic overpowered? - MisterBobbyPin - 04-12-2023

I seem to have a problem with magic. It just always seems situational to me and authors always seem to use it lazily.  Does anyone else have this problem?

Can you give some examples of what you mean?  I don't tend to read books with magic, and none of my characters have dealt with it.

How do writers use magic lazily?  Do you mean they use it as a catch all solution to any problem the main character needs a solution for?

The only books I would have ever read that contained magic were the Harry Potter books and I do not feel that the magic in those was used lazily but that it was used and written quite well for the story.
