Sierra Sky

The first thing she became aware of was the pain in her head, and she tried to reach up to rub her temples. The realization she couldn’t move forced her eyes open with a grunt. The lids fluttered as the sun’s bright rays intensified the headache. Needing to know where she lay, her eyes darted about her surroundings. Nothing seemed familiar.
She grunted again as pain stabbed her tailbone, and she shifted slightly to the side, relieved she could move at all. Feeling slowly returned to her limbs, and she bit her lip to keep from crying out. Painful tingles spread throughout her body, as if a giant weight had been pressed on top of her and then been removed. Blood as well as feeling returned to her extremities, and it hurt.
She bit down harder and tasted blood. The sting in her lip paled in comparison to the pain flooding her body, and tears filled her eyes. The gravel beneath her dug into tender flesh, and she shifted again.
“Damn it!” She muttered as the pain in her tailbone returned. Realizing that something was wedged under her butt, she groped beneath her, cringing as the pain in her arm intensified when it moved.
Fingers searched the gravel, looking for a large rock or stone. Her knuckles grazed her ass, and her eyes widened in alarm and fear. Whatever had stabbed her tailbone was in her clothing…and it was moving.
She leaped to her feet, ignoring the intense rush of pain. It flew up her spine and exploded behind her eyes, but her fear kept her moving. The snake like thing had wrapped itself around her left leg, and she reached into her jeans to grab it. Hoping it wasn’t poisonous; she quickly pulled it out and tried to throw it away from her. Being only partially successful, her lip curled as she stared over her shoulder to see the thing whipping the air behind her. It had attached itself to her backside and was poking out from the waistband of her jeans.
“What the hell?” As feeling fully restored to her body, a hard tug of the creature caused her to yelp in pain. Had it bitten her? She broke out in a cold sweat, unsure what to do next. Expecting her fingers to get sticky and damp from her own blood, she held her breath as she explored where the snake was attached. When she felt dry skin and no sign of teeth or fangs, her exploration deepened. Fingers stroked and probed until she became certain that it wasn’t a snake but a tail.
“I have a tail.” It was supposed to be a question but came out as a statement instead. “How can I have a tail?”
Humans didn’t have tails, and she was pretty sure she was human. It was then that she realized she had no idea who or what she was. The empty lot around her had obviously been vacant for years. Dust covered everything as well as the broken down car near the road. No sign revealed which road it was or which town she currently stood in, and snow topped mountains lined the horizon in the distance.
More curious with her body than her surroundings, she ran her hands down her front and between her legs. Everything her fingers touched felt normal for a woman, but her mind couldn’t stray far from the extra appendage attached to her tailbone.

She wiped her eyes before looking up to meet his gaze. His purple eyes were breathtaking, and she inhaled sharply. He blinked but she could still see the color beneath his lids. A slow smile spread across her lips, realizing he wasn't as scary looking as she first thought. In a way, he was very striking. "So you'll take me home?"
He stared into her eyes for a few moments, and she was almost afraid to breathe. Finally, he sighed, "eventually."
His one-word reply took a few minutes to sink in. "Eventually? How long is eventually?" Did he merely get English confused and meant something else, like soon or yes?
Luna frowned, and she clutched the seat cushion beneath her with trembling fingers. He looked away, and she clenched her jaws to keep her teeth from chattering. "Luna, will I be going home soon?" He gestured to one of the windows. Not wanting to look away from him, Cassandra reluctantly stood and approached one of the covered portals. Her hand shook as she reached to open the cover. At first she could only see blackness, and she leaned closer to the glass.
Luna spoke from close behind her, causing her to flinch. "You see, my ship's cloaking only works against your satellites for so long. I ran out of time and had to leave your orbit."
She held her breath and pressed her face against the window, beginning to make out what was beyond the blackness. "We're in outerspace?"
When he didn't answer, she spun around to confront him. "You took me away from my planet? Where are we going?" Her breathing grew shallow, and she pressed her back against the wall as Luna stepped closer.
"I am taking my prisoner back home, to Klenar."
Her eyes widened in sudden fear. "I'm your prisoner?"
Luna's purple eyes narrowed in confusion before he suddenly smiled. "No, the man who attacked you is my prisoner. You are my honored guest." His head cocked to the side as he studied her. "Are you considered beautiful on Earth? I ask because you are very attractive for an Earthling."
Her laughter came out as a choked guffaw. "No one's called me that before."
Luna's long arm approached her and his thin fingers stroked her cheek. "Attractive?"
Cassandra shook her head, "Earthling."
